It cannot completely prevent buddy punching, however. A valid code can still be captured in a screenshot or forwarded before it expires. Managers should choose a suitable validity period and consider using “Require a Photo” or “Require GPS Location for Clock-In.” GPS coordinates are only a reference for location verification and cannot completely prevent spoofing or positioning errors.

- Camera Permission: Make sure the user’s (employee’s) phone camera works and SwipePoint has permission to use it.
- Risk While Valid: A dynamic code can still be captured in a screenshot or forwarded before it expires. Code rotation should not be treated as complete protection against buddy punching.
- Display Device Control: Managers should control the device that displays the code and prevent unauthorized users from accessing other pages.

From the “Home” page in “Management Mode,” managers can select “Clock-In Records and Management,” then “Clock-In Point Settings,” to open the clock-in point settings page. When this feature is disabled, users (employees) can choose whether to take and upload a photo. When it is enabled, users (employees) must follow the instructions to take a photo while clocking in, such as a clock or door number, as supporting evidence of the location and time.
Before using this feature, the organization creator must subscribe to the Premium “Storage” plan to enable cloud storage for photo clock-in.
Require GPS Location for Clock-In

From the “Home” page in “Management Mode,” managers can select “Clock-In Records and Management,” then “Clock-In Point Settings,” to open the clock-in point settings page. “Require GPS Location for Clock-In” is disabled by default, so users (employees) can choose whether to submit their GPS location when clocking in. Enable this option if every user (employee) must submit the GPS coordinates of their clock-in location.
Important:
- GPS locations can be spoofed: Requiring GPS location records cannot completely prevent technical methods of location spoofing.
- Signal problems may occur: Some users (employees) may be unable to submit GPS coordinates while clocking in because of device limitations, environmental interference, or similar factors.
- Use required photos as well: To reduce errors or fraud, consider also enabling “Require a Photo” to improve the reliability and completeness of attendance records.

From the “Home” page in “Management Mode,” managers can select “Clock-In Records and Management,” then “Clock-In Point Settings,” to open the clock-in point settings page. Select a QR Code validity period from the options shown on the page. The system updates the code when that period ends, and an expired code cannot be used to clock in.
A shorter validity period reduces the time in which a captured or forwarded code can be used, but it also increases the update frequency. Choose a setting that suits the network reliability, traffic at the location, and management requirements.
Password Lock
While the dynamic QR Code is displayed, use the lock option in the upper-right corner to restrict access. After the screen is locked, the correct password is required to leave the QR Code screen and access other SwipePoint pages.
The lock behaves as follows after leaving or reopening the app:
- Switch to Another App: Returning to SwipePoint displays the dynamic QR Code page.
- Close SwipePoint: Reopening SwipePoint displays the password entry page.
- Restart the Phone: Opening SwipePoint after the restart displays the password entry page.
Keep the password secure, and review access when the device is handed over or management personnel change.
Keep the Phone Screen On
When using dynamic QR Code clock-in, a manager should control the display device and set its automatic screen lock to the longest period that is suitable for the location. This prevents the device from immediately locking when no one is using it. Menu names and available durations vary by operating system version, phone manufacturer, and organization policy.
Adjust Auto-Lock on iPhone (iOS)
- Open the Settings app.
- Select Display & Brightness.
- Select Auto-Lock.
- Choose a suitable duration. If the device provides the option and organization policy permits it, select Never.
Delaying or disabling Auto-Lock increases power consumption. Devices managed by an organization or restricted by Low Power Mode or security policies may not offer every duration.
Adjust Screen Timeout on Android
- Open the Settings app.
