National Holidays

Home > Admin Mode > Leave > National Holidays

From the Admin Mode home page, select Leave, then National Holidays. The system currently synchronizes national holidays in Taiwan. Past holidays appear in gray, while upcoming holidays appear in black.

Under Taiwan's current rules, national holidays include:

  • Founding Day (New Year's Day) — January 1
  • Lunar New Year's Eve and Spring Festival — from the day before Lunar New Year's Eve through the third day of the first lunar month, for a total of 5 days
  • Peace Memorial Day — February 28
  • Children's Day — April 4
  • Qingming Festival — Qingming Day
  • Labor Day — May 1
  • Dragon Boat Festival — the fifth day of the fifth lunar month
  • Mid-Autumn Festival — the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month
  • Confucius's Birthday (Teachers' Day) — September 28
  • National Day — October 10
  • Taiwan Retrocession and Kinmen Guningtou Victory Memorial Day — October 25
  • Constitution Day — December 25

Workers with Indigenous status may also select 3 days of leave for annual rituals observed by their own Indigenous group or that of a parent or spouse, in accordance with applicable rules.

If a national holiday falls on a worker's regular day off or rest day, the employer must grant a compensatory day off on a date agreed upon by the employer and worker. Government agencies follow the calendar rules of the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration: a national holiday that falls on Saturday is generally observed on the preceding workday, while one that falls on Sunday is generally observed on the following workday. Actual leave arrangements remain subject to applicable laws, government announcements, and organizational policies.

Add Holiday

Home > Admin Mode > Leave > National Holidays > Add Holiday

From the Admin Mode home page, select Leave, National Holidays, then Add Holiday. In addition to Taiwan's national holidays, an organization can define company-wide days off or add national holidays for other regions.

Use Cases

  • Company Anniversary — Celebrate the company's founding and strengthen employees' sense of belonging.
  • Year-End Banquet Day — Give employees time off after a year-end banquet or company gathering.
  • Employee Family Day — Encourage employees to spend time with their families and support work-life balance.
  • Company Milestone Celebration Day — Grant a company-wide day off after a major business target is reached.
  • Team-Building Day — Schedule time off after a team-building activity to support collaboration.
  • Post-Strategy-Meeting Holiday — Allow employees to recharge after an annual meeting or strategy session.
  • Extended Festival Holiday — Add a company holiday before or after festivals such as the Dragon Boat or Mid-Autumn Festival.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Day — Provide time off after a community service activity and encourage participation.
  • Sports Day or Employee Day — Provide an additional day off after an employee sports event or annual company activity.

National Holiday Update Rules

SwipePoint displays the latest 2 years of national holiday data that has been published and synchronized. In principle, the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration publishes the government agency work calendar for the following year by June 30. In special circumstances, it may be published as late as August 31. The actual synchronization date depends on the SwipePoint system update.

The following hypothetical example illustrates how the displayed years advance. If SwipePoint completes synchronization of the 2027 national holiday data on June 15, 2026:

  1. Before synchronization is complete, the 2025 and 2026 national holiday data is displayed.
  2. After synchronization is complete, the 2026 and 2027 national holiday data is displayed.

The example date only illustrates the year transition; it is not a fixed government announcement or system update date.
