Clock-in Duration
Definition: Clock-in Duration is the total elapsed time from Start Work to End Work within the same paired record.
Calculation: Clock-in Duration = End Work time ā Start Work time
Example: If an employee clocks in for overtime at 6:00 p.m. and clocks out at 8:00 p.m., the Clock-in Duration is 2 hours.
Note:
- The system calculates the direct difference between Start Work and End Work. It does not currently subtract break time automatically.
Work Hours
Definition: Work Hours is the Clock-in Duration truncated to a whole number of hours. This field does not mean that the system has identified or deducted break time.
Calculation: Work Hours = Clock-in Duration with the minutes discarded
Example: If an employee clocks in for overtime at 5:57 p.m. and clocks out at 8:13 p.m., the Clock-in Duration is 2 hours 16 minutes, while Work Hours displays 2 hours.
Additional information:
- Use the Clock-in Duration field when you need the minutes to be included.

Fix Garbled Text in Clock-in Record CSV Files
When you open a clock-in record CSV file in Excel for Windows, Chinese text may appear garbled if Excel does not detect the file's UTF-8 encoding correctly. Use either method below.
Method 1: Import the UTF-8 CSV in Excel
- Open Excel and create a blank workbook.
- Select
Data > Get Data > From File > From Text/CSV. Menu names may differ slightly by Excel version. - Select the CSV file you want to import.
- If File Origin or an encoding option is available, select
65001: Unicode (UTF-8)and confirm that the delimiter is a comma. - Verify that the preview displays the text correctly, then select Load.
Method 2: Save the File as UTF-8 with BOM
- Open the CSV in a text editor that supports encoding selection, such as Notepad++ or Visual Studio Code.
- Choose Save As.
- Select
UTF-8 with BOMas the encoding and save the file. - Reopen the saved file in Excel.
Do not convert the file to ANSI or Big5. Unsupported characters may be lost or become garbled.
