Maternity Leave
Eligibility

Pregnant female employees.

Leave entitlement
  • 8 weeks before and after childbirth.
  • 4 weeks for miscarriage after 3 months of pregnancy.
  • 1 week for miscarriage after 2 months but before 3 months of pregnancy.
  • 5 days for miscarriage before 2 months of pregnancy.
Pay
  • For childbirth and miscarriage after 3 months: if employed for at least 6 months, wages are paid in full; if employed for less than 6 months, wages are paid at half pay.
  • For miscarriage before 3 months: unpaid according to the existing site content.
  • Weekly rest days, memorial days, Labor Day, and other required holidays are included and not deducted separately.
Full-attendance bonus
  • Miscarriage before 3 months does not affect the full-attendance bonus.
  • 8 weeks of maternity leave before and after childbirth does not affect the full-attendance bonus.
Split use

May be split by agreement before childbirth, but at least 4 weeks should be kept after childbirth. Postpartum maternity leave should be taken continuously, including weekly days off and national holidays.

Proof is required and should indicate the pregnancy, childbirth, or miscarriage date.

Paternity Leave / Prenatal Checkup Accompaniment Leave
Eligibility

Male employees whose spouse is pregnant.

Leave entitlement

Paternity leave and prenatal checkup accompaniment leave total 7 days. Paternity leave should be taken on the childbirth date and within the 15-day period around that date.

Calculation
  • Prenatal checkup accompaniment leave is taken during the spouse's pregnancy.
  • Paternity leave may be taken from 7 days before to 7 days after childbirth.
  • Actual leave days must not exceed 7 days.
Pay

Wages are paid as usual.

Full-attendance bonus

Not affected.

Split use

Allowed.

The employer may request relevant proof documents.

Eligibility

Parental Leave Without Pay
Eligibility

Employees raising a child under 3 years old.

Leave entitlement
  • After 6 months of service, an employee may apply for parental leave without pay before each child turns 3 years old.
  • The leave may continue until the child turns 3, but must not exceed 2 years.
  • If raising 2 or more children at the same time, the periods are calculated together.
  • The combined maximum is 2 years based on the youngest child being raised.
Calculation

Actual leave period must not exceed 2 years.

Pay

Unpaid during the leave period.

Full-attendance bonus

Deducted.

Split use

Each parental leave period is generally at least 6 months. If a shorter period is needed, the employee may apply for no less than 30 days, up to 2 times.

Proof required

Proof is required. A written application should be submitted to the employer 10 days in advance.

Family Care Leave
Eligibility

All employees.

Leave entitlement

When a family member needs personal care because of vaccination, serious illness, or another major event, the employee may request family care leave. The days are counted as personal leave and are limited to 7 days per year.

Calculation

Actual leave days within 1 year must not exceed 7 days.

Unpaid during the leave period.
