Restrict Wi-Fi Network for Clock-In

Wi-Fi-based clock-in is an efficient, accurate, and convenient attendance method that uses Wi-Fi signals to precisely locate employees. This method is particularly suitable for large indoor work environments such as offices and warehouses, enhancing management efficiency and reducing costs.

In the workplace, Wi-Fi positioning can offer relatively precise location tracking, especially when multiple wireless access points are set up. Since office environments usually have stable and strong Wi-Fi coverage, Wi-Fi positioning is more effective than GPS, particularly when satellite signals are not available indoors. However, the accuracy of Wi-Fi positioning can still be influenced by factors such as the layout of the office’s wireless routers, signal strength, and interference from nearby devices. Structural elements like walls and partitions can also affect Wi-Fi signal propagation, causing location inaccuracies. While Wi-Fi positioning is generally reliable indoors, signal coverage and potential interference should still be considered.

Enable Photo Clock-In

Once enabled, users must take a photo when clocking in according to instructions. These instructions may require capturing a clock or house number to verify the location and time at the moment of clock-in.

This feature requires a subscription to the storage plan before use.

Enforce GPS Clock-In Location Recording

By default, "Enforce GPS Clock-In Location Recording" is disabled, allowing employees to decide whether to submit GPS data when clocking in. To require all employees to submit GPS coordinates during clock-in, enable this feature.

Feature Overview

  • Location Identification: Determines an employee's location based on the Wi-Fi network their device is connected to.
  • Accuracy and Stability: Provides better accuracy and stability than GPS in indoor environments.

How to Use

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi: Employees' devices must connect to the company's Wi-Fi network.
  2. Clock-In Record: The system automatically captures the device's Wi-Fi connection information, logging the clock-in time and location.
  3. Data Logging: Clock-in data is stored on Shuadian’s cloud server for management review.

Advantages

  • Efficient Management: Improves the accuracy and efficiency of attendance management.
  • Convenient Clock-In: Employees simply connect to the company’s Wi-Fi network without needing additional clock-in equipment.
  • Cost Savings: Eliminates the need to purchase and maintain traditional clock-in machines and cards.
  • Real-Time Data: Management can instantly access employee clock-in records and work status.

Notes

  • Privacy Concerns: Consider employee privacy and data security.
  • Wi-Fi Signal Range: Ensure adequate Wi-Fi coverage within the workplace to avoid clock-in issues due to weak signals.

Restrict IP Address

Wi-Fi-based clock-in can also enable the "Restrict IP Address" feature. This feature ensures that employees can only clock in within specific locations or network ranges by identifying the IP address of their device. It is particularly effective for ensuring employees clock in from the office or designated remote work locations.

Feature Overview

  • Location Identification: Verifies the clock-in location based on the employee's device IP address.
  • Accuracy: Ensures employees clock in at designated locations, reducing the possibility of off-site clock-ins.
  • Applicable Scenarios: Ideal for fixed office locations and remote work settings.

How to Use

  1. Set Trusted IP Addresses: Administrators can set the organization’s trusted IP addresses in the management mode.
  2. Employee Clock-In: Employees clock in from the office or designated remote locations by connecting their devices to Wi-Fi.
  3. System Matching: Shuadian automatically captures the device’s IP address and matches it against the trusted IP address range.

Management Features

  • Real-Time Monitoring: Managers can monitor employee clock-in locations in real time.
  • Flexible Settings: Administrators can adjust and set trusted IP addresses as needed to accommodate different work scenarios.

Advantages

  • Efficient Management: Enhances the accuracy and efficiency of attendance management.
  • Convenient Clock-In: Employees can clock in automatically by connecting to the company's network, with no additional equipment needed.
  • Cost Savings: No need for additional clock-in devices or cards.

Notes

  • VPN Usage: If employees use VPNs to connect to the company's network, it may affect the accuracy of the IP address.
  • Privacy Concerns: Employee location information may be accessed by the company, so data privacy protection is important.

This feature may require setting up an IP-sharing device to ensure that the employee's mobile device has a fixed IP address when connecting to the Wi-Fi network, usually an internal IP.
